Nathan and I went to Monroe with my parents and brother and sister-in-law and their 3 girls. We stayed from Sat thru Tues and are now in Morgan City with family. My my brother, Joey, his wife, Christi, and her whole family parents, grandparents, 3 siblings and kids, lost absolutey everything in Chalmette. Looks like the water receeded in Metairie, so we have some hope. The plan for now is to settle here and get the kids in school. I've got offers to work at the local hospital and will probably start Monday. The community here has been wonderful. My aunt has tons of room and her neighbor (who I grew up with) is also a nurse, they opened up their converted garage room to us as well. Pray for my brother and sister-in-law, many of you have met over the years. It's all so surreal. I'm so glad the Westbank is fine and what was I ever thinking moving back to the eastbank! Well, technically, now I'm back on the westbank. Also, my next door neighbor is a big wig with the Army Corps of Engineers, I'm trying to get in touch with his wife who left for Dallas. As soon as I get any info, I'll send it on. And when the teens wake up they can show me how to use the blog. Love and prayers to all, Cindy

Cindy here in Morgan City. Nathan is registered to start school Tues. It's been good to see people I grew up with. One of my childhood best friends is the principal of the High School. God is providing us here with family and a community who are awesomely taking care of us. Will probably start work at local hospital next week. If any of you are considering a new career, I highly recommend Nursing. Most of the universities are waving tuition. We are in an unbelievable shortage. And what a ministry you can have. Found a great group of believers next door that attend a non-denominational church will check out on Sunday. Has anyone heard from Kevin and Pam Chiasson? Please send phone numbers or pass mine along. I'm at 985-384-4889 or cell 504-376-3483.

We're settling in here in tiny Morgan City. It's been fun to see old friends from childhood. If you don't see them at Wal-mart, you see them at the grocery store. Takes me 7 minutes and 3 red lights to take Nathan to school. He's loving it! We had Open House at school last night and got to meet all his teachers. They have been so impressed with how well he's folded in with the others. His English teacher read one of his journal entries, which of course made me cry. Boy, can he write. And he always hides it from me. Praise God for teachers who share his stuff. He wrote about the hardships over the pass few years and how it's prepared him for this, and something mushy about Mom always being there for him. What a blessing he has been! Good news about work. We have a conference call tomorrow with all the field nurse case managers. They are trying to get us hooked up with the local Red Cross shelters to do a satellite clinic for Tenet. So, I can stay where I am, and still have a job! PTL! We visited with my brother and his "girls" on Sat in Lafayette. Good visit. They are doing remarkably well. Still daily tears, but who of you has stayed dry for more than 24 hours. The girls start school this week, and my sis-in-law has been working some in Texas and mostly on conference calls. Thank God, she still has a job, too. Us nurses will never be in want of that. Keep in mind the medical field is going to be wide open for those of you who may have to start all over with jobs. Have truly enjoyed reading all the updates from everyone, keep them coming. Love and hugs to all, Cindy

Dear Berean Family, Seems like everyone has been very busy, since there are very few updates on here. Hope all are well. If you're like me, you hesitate to write an update because it will most likely change by tomorrow. Well, a lot has changed drastically for us...... Ya'll know I was renting the house in North Airline Park and have been there for over 4 years. The owner lives in Colorado and has Prudential managing and they have been the only ones I've ever dealt with, until now. The owner called a few weeks ago to get a report on the damage, told me not to worry about rent, asked if I could be there when the accessor came and I told him we could take care of the tree removal. All seemed to be fine. Well, he called Sunday and wants us out of the house by the end of the month because he has family from Chalmette that lost everything and he wants them to have a place to stay. He rationalized it by stating that I have other family and friends that didn't lose anything and I could stay with them. I'm convinced Satan has taken hold of many landlords thru this nightmare. As you know, I could fight this, but I know it's not worth it. Sooo...... Since I have been praying for direction in whether to stay in Morgan City or go home or go somewhere else, God has apparently sent me an answer thru this mean man. On the positive side, we have a cousin who has an empty house in Bayou Vista (next door town west of Morgan City). It's got rolling hills inside the house from a severely cracked slab, which is why they have never sold it. But it has two bedrooms that are level and so is the kitchen. We can make do in the living area. It also has lots of windows, room and space for storage, and a fenced in yard for our dog! And best of all, RENT FREE. Sooo..... I will be going back to Metairie on Tues night to start packing, ugh! This will be our 8th move since leaving home on 8/27/05 for Katrina. Please, please pray for my back. I've already been thru one rx of muscle relaxants and am definitely due for a good massage when this is all over. We won't be able to move everything in until after Sunday the 16th. So, here's my request for help for any men willing to load the truck when it's ready. I'm still working on the logistics but will be in touch. Love to all, Cindy

Here's another cry for help. There are no U-Haul trailers anywhere in LA. So, here's an opportunity for me to trust that God will supply all of my needs. My cousin in Thibodaux is trying to round up guys with pickups and flat beds, so keep praying. We have until the 23rd.
I'll be coming in tonight to start packing, and I'll be there until this Friday night, then back to MC for Saturday, then back to Metairie on Sunday. If anyone would like to help transport any amount of stuff when I leave on Friday, I'll be happy to accept. Thanks for prayers and help, Cindy
