Thought it might be nice to hear who is actually living in their real home .... right now? Who has been able to return already? Please post about the conditions of each area in the reporting damage section so we'll know about grocery stories, hospitals, etc.
We probably all need some good news ...

when glenn and I went in on Saturday, it was a little more than a ghost town. Walgreens o Holidayand MacArthur is open 9-4pm e-zmart open and gas, that was it for Algires. there is NO 911, EMS,few clinics the National guard were handing out papers with things that might open shortly,My advice don't go in except to get a few things and get out. it really is not safe at night. the police are across the street at Oakparkbaptist church and they advised not to stay until contions improved. Pastor Brad and Julie are living in there home, but living out of ice chests, the water is drinkable and there is water for baths and toilets, there are a guzillion trees and power lines down, but to say all that we will be going back ready to get goingand rebuiling. The Lord has been soooo good to us dispite everyhing. He is awesome and is truling amazing. I can't wait to here all the stories of our great Lord and savior used each one of!!!

From my understanding, some of the people currently living at home are...
Brad & Julie Davis Jim Clark (working for Bellsouth) Larry & Margie Daspit Dave Olschner (working. actually sleeping at the Trauths) Chiassons (I think) Clayton (cranked his electrician business back up...working)
That is all that comes to me off of the top of my head. Of course, some of us have spent a night or two in New Orleans, but haven't permenantly moved down there...

East Jefferson is starting to fill up. Lots of ::)trafic now. When I first got here it was kind of erry with no one around. This was especially strange since I live in a prodominently black neiborhood. In case you don't know, black neiborhoods are often like all neiborhoods USE to be in that there is ALWAYS someone socializing in their front yard, so for it to be empty was really strange. On top of that, when I first got here there was no power except my generator, so my porch lights were the only light as far as I could see.

My parents Jack and Vivian Reinhard are back living in their home. The power is on, phone works, water is good. Mail service even started on Tuesday. They live in Belle Meade. The Breaux Mart behind them on Lapalco is open and the Wal-mart in Marrero is open. Mom says you need to plan a shopping trip because there are so many people that it takes two to three hours to get stuff.

Charlie Hogue is home, has power, phone but no internet. His parents are also home in Bocage. My parents and I were to have headed back Saturday, dropping Katie and Emily off in Covington. They will stay during the week with my brother and sister-in-law and attend Northshore Christian School. They are offering open enrollment and best of all, month to month tuition, should OP schools come back soon. Check their website if you are interested. (The Redford boys attend there as well as my nephew!) Westside Dental Group will open ASAP. If you are in the neighborhood, at least drop by and say HELLO! Winn Dixie is open, but lost power today. Steve's on DeGaulle has gas. Our return may be delayed as Rita is slated to come RIGHT THROUGH SHREVEPORT. I feel like Jonah; please, folks, don't push us off the boat! The streets here are crowded with people coming up from the TX coast; all the shelters here are full again. Here we go again!

I've been home about four times since hurricane Katrina. Donna and the kids are at my sister in law and her husband's home on Ponchatoula. We will be ther for a while since Orleans Parish Schools dont look like they will be back up anytime soon. Stephen and Kirsten are in Ponchatoula schools and Jennifer is at Southeastern for the semester. Our plans at this time are to stay in Ponchatoula during the week and go home on the weekends. I've been working at Ochsner in five to six day blocks and staying at the Brent House Hotel when my team is on. I've just come off of my third rotation. My first started the dat before Hurricane Katrina hit. When I went home on the first, Algiers looked like pictures that I've seen of a war zone. It looked like someone dropped a bomb in the middle of the place. I've been back three times since then, cleaning up a little around the yard, picking up clothing and necessities for Donna and the kids, and CLEANING OUT THAT REFRIGERATOR. Every time I go back the city looks beter and better. We have some roof damage, ceiling damage and a chunk of the fence is down in the back yard. Donna has been cleared by her doctor to go back to work but she will go back only on a PART TIME BASIS . The kids will coontinue to attend schools in Ponchatoula since Orleans Parish Schools don't look like they will be up and running anytime soon. Donna's sister and brother in law have graciously and generously offerred us the opportunity to stay with them as long as we need to, and due to the school situation, our current plans are to stay with them during the week days and go home on the weekends. I will continue to work with my team until things normalize at Ochsner. Things are getting busy at the hospital since by reports there are only three hospitals that are up and running, Ochsner, East Jeff and West Jeff. I have only noticed Winn Dixie and the Eazy Serve on Mac Arthur to be open when I have gone home. Hope things are going well with all. We miss you guys. Benny and Donna

Cathy, Matthew and I are home. Amy is in college in Houston since LSU nusrsing is soaked. Paul is in Ruston at La Tech.
My office has been running but many people are out till October 2005, Januray 2006, or never to return. The next six months will be interesting.
Hopefully, our testing by storms is finished for this year and for a long time to come.
God is Good even in the such trauma. What a time to surrender all.

Hello Everyone! The good Lord willing, we are going to have our first worship service (post Katrina) at the church this Sunday (October 2nd) at 10:30! Everyone in N.O. now and everyone within 250 miles is invited to attend! We will sing together because...we need to! We will have communion together because....we need to! As far as the worship, I can play the drums but anyone else who can play anything, and will be there, let me know asap. The Lord has burdened my heart to preach on who HE IS! I'm tired of hearing about Mother Nature and the personification of Katrina. I actually heard one commentator say it was a living "being"! People need to worship the Lord of creation, not the creation. God sent Katrina and Rita because He purposed to and is sovereign! If you can, bring a lunch and some work clothes and we can clean up some after the service. I know it's the Lord's Day but hey, if your ox is in the ditch...and believe me, ours IS! Hope to see you there, if at all possible. Can't wait to hug you! See "ya' all" real soon, again....the Lord willing! All our love, Pastor Brad & Julie
