Hello to all. Kevin and I are staying with my sister in Carencro, LA (just above Lafayette). Would love to know if anyone is in the Lafayette area. Kevin went home yesterday to check in with his job and check on the house. He came home stunned... said the Westbank looked like a war zone. Debris everywhere. It's been 20 years since our home has flooded, so we were hopeful, but unfortunately we were not spared. Just about everything is lost. We have been through this four times before (only to a lesser degree) and know the work involved in the rebuilding process...were just 20 years older, a little more tired, and a little slower, but believe God is in control and trust in His plan and in His goodness. Kevin went back again today to return to work...he works for ADM (the grain elevator) in St. Charles Parish. My heart is deeply grieving for each of you...I pray you each sense the presence of God near to you...You are all His precious children...He sees your pain and tears...and He loves you dearly...I wish I could hug each and every one of you...my love to all. Pam

Hello Pam & Kevin - I am so glad to hear you are all okay. I am sorry to hear that your area is in bad shape and that you lost just about everything. You will not believe the responses we are getting from churches that are preparing to come help! They will be a great asset to the Berean family as we start the rebuilding process. You will not have to do this alone! We have a long road ahead of us, for sure. But, with God nothing is impossible! I look forward to our next time of fellowship together! Love ya! Julie

Hi Pam. Glad to hear you are safe, but I'm so sorry to hear about the flooding in your home!
I don't know why we were spared once again! We've been here 29 years now, and never had our house flood. It seems like the few streets in my neighborhood were about the only ones where water didn't get in the houses from Katrina. Our street was a lake, but Jim said the water line was just below the flower bed in front. When we lived on E. Loyola drive, there were several bad floods in the subdivision, but we never got water in our house there either. I feel triple blessed now - no flooding, family to take us in, and Jim still has his job. I think we are meant to be able to minister to others when we go back since we will only have minor damage to fix and just about every other person we know has had at least flooding or total loss. I'm looking forward to it. We'll be back when the Jefferson Parish shools reopen.
Love, Margaret

Pam,
Tell Kevin I'm ready to start hammering the floor boards and hanging sheetrock. Just tell me when.
